Steelers Get Good News Ahead of Bills Game
The Pittsburgh Steelers received a boost with safety Minkah Fitzpatrick rejoining practice as a full participant, finally shaking off his Week 15 knee injury.
However, heading into their Wild Card showdown with the Buffalo Bills, several key players remain on the watch list.
Running back Najee Harris (knee), guard Isaac Seumalo (shoulder), and outside linebacker T.J. Watt (knee) sat out Monday’s opening practice. Veteran defenders Cam Heyward, Larry Ogunjobi, and Patrick Peterson received rest days, while inside linebacker Elandon Roberts (pectoral) was limited.
Harris and Seumalo, despite battling various injuries throughout the season, are expected to be available against the Bills. Roberts, returning from a pectoral injury, should contribute despite practicing in a limited capacity.
Unfortunately, T.J. Watt was officially ruled out for the Wild Card round after suffering a grade 2 MCL sprain in the season finale against the Ravens. However, the Steelers hope to re-evaluate his injury if they manage to overcome the Bills.
“We’re optimistic” about Fitzpatrick’s return, Coach Mike Tomlin stated, after the safety missed multiple weeks with his knee injury. His presence would significantly bolster the Steelers’ secondary against the high-powered Bills offense.
The injury report presents both challenges and opportunities for the Steelers as they prepare for their high-stakes playoff clash.
With key players returning and others showing resilience, the team’s playoff hopes rest on their ability to overcome these hurdles and unleash their full potential on the field.
