The Dallas Cowboys’ impressive 2023 season, marked by a 12-5 record, NFC East title, and seven Pro Bowlers, continues to reap individual accolades.
The latest recipient is rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey, who has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December/January. This marks Aubrey’s second monthly award this season and the fifth for the Cowboys overall, adding to Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and DaRon Bland’s victories.
But Aubrey has achieved a feat no other Cowboy has before: winning the Special Teams Player of the Month award twice in a single season. His consistent excellence throughout the year solidifies his place as a rising star in the NFL.
In the final five games of the season, spanning December and one January game, Aubrey showcased his sharpshooting skills by connecting on 10 of 12 field goals.
While a perfect season on field goals narrowly slipped through his grasp with a blocked kick and an upright miss in Washington, Aubrey redeemed himself with a resounding 50-yard boot. This final kick cemented his position as the NFL’s leader in field goals with 36 on the season.
Aubrey’s dominance extends beyond field goals. He also topped the league in scoring with 156 points and boasts an NFL single-season record of 99 touchbacks.
These achievements were recognized with his Pro Bowl selection last week, and he is a strong contender for inclusion on multiple All-Pro teams, including the NFLPA list announced Wednesday.
Brandon Aubrey’s remarkable season, culminating in double Special Teams Player of the Month awards and league-leading statistics, leaves no doubt about his immense talent and promising future.
Cowboys fans and the NFL alike can eagerly anticipate many more stellar performances from this rising star kicker.
