The Las Vegas Raiders are casting a wide net in their search for a new offensive coordinator, and their latest target is Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback coach Mike Sullivan.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Raiders are set to interview Sullivan for the opening.
Sullivan has been with the Steelers for two seasons, but he took over as interim offensive coordinator in 2023 after the team fired Matt Canada.
During his time calling the plays, Sullivan helped the Steelers reach the 400-yard mark in two games, marking the first time they had done so since Canada took over the offense.
Sullivan’s success as interim offensive coordinator has made him a hot commodity on the coaching market.
The Raiders are not the only team interested in his services, as he is also expected to interview with the Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Raiders’ interest in Sullivan is a bit surprising, given that he has no prior experience as an offensive coordinator.
However, his success with the Steelers and his reputation as a quarterback guru could make him an attractive candidate for the job.
The Raiders’ offense has struggled in recent years, and they are hoping to find a coordinator who can unlock the potential of their young quarterback, Derek Carr.
Sullivan’s experience working with quarterbacks could be a valuable asset in that regard.
Sullivan is a well-respected coach with a proven track record of success. If he can replicate his success with the Steelers in Las Vegas, he could be the answer to the Raiders’ offensive woes.
