Iowa Pork Producers add linebacker Cook in new version of Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon ad…
The Iowa Pork Producers Association has launched a new version of its viral social media ad featuring Iowa State University linebacker Alec Cook, aimed at guiding consumers on what to do after purchasing Moore Hamann Bacon.
In the 30-second online video, Cyclones football players Myles Purchase, Tyler Moore, Tommy Hamann, and Caleb Bacon are shown looking at a car trunk filled with piles of ham and bacon, unsure of what to do next. Cook joins them and confidently says, “Man, don’t worry, I got this.”
This social media ad expands on the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal that the Iowa Pork Producers Association established with Purchase, Moore, Hamann, and Bacon in September. The ad has garnered over 2.6 million views on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, according to the Clive industry group.
Raygun, a novelty retailer in Des Moines, has experienced significant sales of Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon T-shirts, with hundreds sold. Additionally, the Iowa Pork Producers Association has distributed nearly 9,000 posters featuring the original four players.
This marketing campaign was inspired by a photo captured during Iowa State University’s opener against the University of Northern Iowa. The photo showed Tommy Hamann standing alongside Caleb Bacon, their names prominently displayed on their jerseys. Fan Jacob Ross noticed the clever wordplay with “Hamann Bacon” and encouraged the pork producers on social media to make a deal happen.
Trish Cook, President of the Iowa Pork Producers Association and a pig farmer from Buchanan County, expressed delight in the campaign’s success. In a statement, she mentioned, “We are thrilled with the tremendous success of the ‘Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon’ campaign and are excited to promote the idea of ‘Cooking Moore Hamann Bacon’ as well.”
The first four participants will get $2,000 apiece from the pig producers, who will also donate $2,000 worth of pork to food banks in each player’s hometown. In addition to receiving $1,000, Cook will contribute $1,000 worth of pork to the Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha, Nebraska, the location of his birth.
