Chiefs Finalizing Trade to Send CB L’Jarius Sneed to Titans.
Adam Schefter has reported that the Chiefs are on the verge of finalizing a deal to trade their standout cornerback, L’Jarius Sneed, to the Titans.
According to Schefter’s sources, the Chiefs are set to receive a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Titans in exchange for Sneed. Additionally, it’s expected that Sneed will ink a contract extension with the Titans, contingent upon passing a physical examination.
Speculation surrounding Sneed’s potential departure has been ongoing, with the Titans consistently emerging as a prime suitor. Negotiations between the two teams hit a snag over salary considerations, with Sneed’s contract desires being a key point of contention.
Kansas City had previously applied the franchise tag to Sneed, carrying a hefty price tag of $19.8 million guaranteed for the 2024 season. However, with the impending trade to Tennessee, Sneed is poised to secure a new deal with his new team.
Several other franchises, including the Colts, Patriots, Falcons, and Vikings, were also reportedly interested in acquiring Sneed’s services.
Drafted by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft, Sneed has made a significant impact during his tenure with the team. Having played out his initial four-year, $3.9 million contract, he was set to enter free agency for the first time in his career.
In the 2023 season, Sneed showcased his prowess on the field, appearing in all 16 games for the Chiefs. He tallied impressive statistics, including 78 total tackles, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 14 pass defenses.
