Atlanta Braves Trade for RHP Jimmy Herget from Angels in Cash Deal.
The Atlanta Braves have bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-handed pitcher Jimmy Herget from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations.
Herget, who was recently designated for assignment by the Angels, spent this season with the Triple-A Salt Lake team. The transaction was finalized on Thursday, with the 30-year-old pitcher being assigned to the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett.
In his standout 2022 season with the Angels, Herget made 49 appearances, boasting a 2.48 ERA and securing nine saves across 69 innings. However, his performance dipped last season, where he posted a 4.66 ERA in 29 games.
Although Herget hasn’t seen action in the majors this year, he showcased his capabilities with a 3.97 ERA in 10 appearances for Salt Lake.
The acquisition of Herget serves as a depth addition for the Braves, providing them with an experienced reliever at the Triple-A level. With Herget now on the 40-man roster, he brings valuable Major League experience, having previously pitched for Cincinnati and Texas.
