Patrick Queen Chooses Steelers Over Bigger Offers for a Chance to Win.
Patrick Queen was one of the standout acquisitions of the offseason, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are eager to benefit from having a star like him anchoring their defense.
The former first-round pick recently joined Derrick Bell of Steelers Now on his YouTube channel, revealing he turned down more lucrative contracts to join the Steelers.
“Out of the 15 teams I was in talks with, it came down to five in the end,” Queen explained. “Some were offering up to $17 million per year. I had to choose between winning or getting paid. The difference was about four or five million. I’ve never been on a losing team, and I don’t want to be part of a rebuild. I want to win now.”
Queen signed the largest external free agent deal in Steelers history in March, agreeing to a three-year, $41 million contract. He sees the next three years as a prime opportunity to compete for significant victories.
