Hakeem Butler: From UFL Standout to NFL Hopeful.
Hakeem Butler, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, has been named Offensive Player of the Year in the United Football League (UFL). The league recognized his impressive performance, leading in receiving yards with 652, along with 45 receptions and five touchdowns. Despite a promising stint with the Steelers in training camp last year, an injury cut his time short.
Butler, known for his imposing stature and occasional standout plays, struggled with consistency and drops during his time in Pittsburgh. Previously drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 and briefly with the Philadelphia Eagles, he even experimented with playing tight end before returning to his original position as a wide receiver. After setbacks in the CFL, Butler almost retired before a chance with the St. Louis Battlehawks reignited his passion.
His recent success in the UFL has once again put him on the radar for NFL teams seeking talent. Although unlikely to return to the Steelers, Butler’s size and production make him an appealing prospect for teams in need of receiver depth.
