Najee Harris Pens Contract extension with Steelers keeping Him till 2028.
Steelers Common Director Omar Khan didn’t think running back Najee Harris was profitable sufficient to the group to choose up the fifth-year alternative on his rookie contract, but Khan says that doesn’t block Harris from being in Pittsburgh in 2025 and past.
Khan said on 93.7 The Fan that the Steelers seem see Harris marking a contract expansion and never hitting free office.
“It was a trade choice that we had to create by, I think, May 2,” Khan said. “But Najee’s magnificent to have around here. Cherish Najee as a player and a individual. And fair since we didn’t choose it up, that doesn’t prohibit us from doing something with Najee for the long term. I’d cherish to say Najee was here and had a long career in Pittsburgh. He truly speaks to us well on the field and off the field. But it was one of those things we had to create a decision on. We fair felt right presently it was the proper choice for everybody. But I adore Najee and I would cherish to have him here long term.”
Khan said he by and by called Harris to let him know that the Steelers wouldn’t choose up his choice. Khan declined to go into detail approximately what was said in that discussion, but sounded idealistic around Harris having a future in Pittsburgh.
“He knows that fair since we’re going into this with one year cleared out, that doesn’t anticipate us from doing trade with him long term,” Khan said.
NFL groups are progressively choosing that running backs aren’t worth enormous contracts, but Harris may still discover that the Steelers are willing to offer him more than anybody else.
