According to Beamer, the South Carolina tight end will miss the rest of the regular season.
Coach Shane Beamer provided an injury report on his team after South Carolina defeated Missouri 34–30 on Saturday night. Most notably, Beamer announced that tight end Brady Hunt would miss the last two games of the regular season due to a non-contact lower-body injury. Hunt is expected to make a comeback for the postseason by the No. 19 Gamecocks (7-3, 5-3 SEC).

Hunt, a transfer from Ball State, has only made two catches this season, but his most recent one was among the most significant. Late in the fourth quarter, on third and ten, quarterback LaNorris Sellers managed to stay upright, wriggled out of a sack, and found Hunt running for the first down. The tight end position grows sparse as Hunt misses the Gamecocks’ next two games against Wofford and No. 17 Clemson. Starting quarterback Josh Simon, true freshman Michael Smith, and sophomore Maurice Brown—who has mostly played special teams this season—will be more important to South Carolina.

Although Simon and Smith sustained further minor injuries on Saturday, Beamer appeared confident that they would be fit to play against Wofford. During his Sunday teleconference, Beamer stated, “I just wrapped up a meeting with a tight end recruit that is here on his visit that I’d like to be able to keep around and have him play tight end this week.” “Because it’s alarming.” We perform numerous tight end sets. All of those men also play on special teams.

In terms of injuries, the Gamecocks appear to have recovered well from Saturday even if several players were out. Among them was Judge Collier, a defensive back. While the game was still in progress, his parents took him to the hospital to check on him after he suffered an upper-body injury versus Missouri. “We think he’ll be fine,” Beamer stated. South Carolina will play Wofford at 4 p.m. on Saturday to wrap up its home schedule. The Gamecocks will then conclude the regular season Nov. 30 at Clemson.
