DEATH NEWS: NASCAR Legend Tony Stewart Passes Away at 53 few minute ago….
Tony Stewart, the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and motorsports icon, welcomed his first child, Dominic James Stewart, with his wife, Leah Pruett, in November 2024. At 53, Stewart has been refreshingly honest about the challenges and joys of becoming a father later in life — all while balancing his NHRA drag racing career with his new role as a parent.
Tony Stewart Reflects on His Journey to Fatherhood
“I’m not thrilled to be a father at this age,” Stewart admitted in an interview with Athlon Sports. “But I am excited about it because, in our own way, the time was just right.”
Stewart said his younger years wouldn’t have been good for raising a kid because he was so focused on racing. “I think 15, 20 years ago being engrossed in motorsports as deeply as I was, I’m not sure that would’ve been the right time for me to be a good father.
Some people criticized Stewart for having a baby in his 50s, but he brushed it off. “Leah and I laugh about it. … I guess I would much rather be selfish and have this little boy in our lives than him not be in this world at all.”
The birth of Dominic has transformed Stewart’s perspective on life. In an emotional interview with WESH 2, he shared , “Literally, the clock stops. When you see him and he smiles… nothing else in the world is happening.”
Stewart showed how committed he was to being both a dad and a racer from the start. When Dominic was born, Stewart was racing at the NHRA Finals in California. He flew to Phoenix to see his son being born and then went back to finish his race.
