Former NBA Player Glen Davis Sentenced to 40 Months in Prison for Healthcare Fraud.
Glen Davis, known by his nickname “Big Baby,” has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his involvement in a healthcare fraud scheme targeting the NBA’s healthcare system. Alongside over 20 individuals implicated in the scheme, including former Celtics players Sebastian Telfair
and Tony Allen, Davis was found guilty of submitting fraudulent medical claims totaling $132,000.
One notable claim included $27,200 for dental work during a single visit. The scheme, which took advantage of the NBA Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan, resulted in Davis being ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution, as reported by ESPN.
Davis, a key player during his eight seasons in the NBA, notably won an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics during his rookie year in the 2007-08 season. He spent four seasons with the Celtics before moving on to play for the Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Clippers.
